I’ve been making lots of little critters for a while now, some crocheted, some fabric and felt, and last week I saw a very cute little Teeny Tiny Teddy knitted bear on Seaford Spinners and Weavers. I don’t knit, but that tiny teddy was just too cute and I decided I wanted to crochet one. So I did.
I found a leftover ball of Lily Sugar’n Cream and decided to use the cotton yard because I didn’t want this little bear to be too fussy. This Desert Rising Ombre was handy so that’s what I chose.
You could mix and match bits of yarn, but that was too many decisions to make, so I went with this multi-color pattern.
I used pearl cotton for her bright blue eyes and variegated red for her heart. She’s just shy of nine inches tall from the top of her ears to the bottom of her feet.
Then I decided she needed a pal.
This is Calico Ombre Sugar’n Cream.
And of course every little bunny needs a cotton tail.
The bunny is seven inches tall with four-inch ears.
I didn’t use a pattern, but followed the assembly of the knitted bear which was separate body parts stitched together. I crocheted a rectangle and that became the head and the body. The four legs were crocheted separately and stitched in place. All the pieces are lightly stuffed with polyfil so they’re really squishy.
I think they’re pretty cute. They make me smile. How about you?
